Tips to Help You Prepare for Your Microblading Appointment

Microblading is a cosmetic procedure designed to help you achieve your eyebrow goals. Whether you want to minimize your daily makeup routine, are experiencing hair loss, or your brows naturally grow in a way that you dislike, microblading could be a great option for you.

If you’ve recently booked a microblading service and want some tips on how to get ready for your appointment, read on to learn what how to feel as prepared as possible.

  1. Avoid the tanning bed or excessive sun exposure. Getting too much sun (or spending too long in the tanning bed) prior to a microblading appointment can cause sensitivity and may impact the procedure’s effectiveness.
  2. Stop using retinol or exfoliating treatments. You should avoid using facial treatments like retinol, chemical peels, exfoliants, and other abrasive or harsh skin care products the week leading up to your appointment to avoid sensitivity during the procedure and prime your skin for healing.
  3. Avoid blood thinners. Alcohol, caffeine, and certain medications can cause your blood to thin and complicate the procedure, so try to avoid them for the 24 hours leading up to your appointment. Always consult your doctor before stopping any prescribed medications.
  4. Skip the eyebrow treatments. Your technician needs a clean canvas to work with, so refrain from scheduling brow tinting services before your microblading appointment. Waxing and threading should also be avoided.
  5. Come with a clean face. You should come to your appointment without any makeup, oils, or other products on or around your eyebrows. Having clean skin allows for optimal absorption and helps the technician achieve better results.
