Microblading is a somewhat new procedure that allows people to achieve the look of more youthful, filled-in brows through a semi-permanent pigmenting process applied by a trained esthetician. If you are intrigued by the thought of being able to wake up with fuller, filled brows without the reapplication of make-up, we here at Lily Handt health + beauty would love to tell you more about this process known as microblading.

  • Does it hurt? The pain with microblading is minimal to non-existent. Because we apply topical numbing creams to the area before the procedure, most patients feel no pain, just a slight scraping sensation during application.
  • How long is the healing process? The initial healing process is around 1-2 weeks, with full healing and color saturation occurring at around a month.
  • Is it safe? There is risk to all cosmetic procedures and we always encourage patients to discuss this procedure with their doctors beforehand. That being said, the risks of microblading are very minimal and a great majority of patients suffer no ill effects as long as you go to a reputable and experienced esthetician who is trained to perform the procedure.
  • Will I need touchups? Yes. During the first session, your esthetician will apply the pigment lightly and may need to touch up certain areas. We prefer to start light and add on, since we cannot take off pigment once applied.
  • How long can I expect it to last? Depending on your skin type, age, hair color and skin care routine, your microblading can be expected to last anywhere from 1-3 years. Our experts can give you a better idea when you come for a consultation.
  • Am I eligible for this procedure? Microblading is an option for many people, but those on certain medications (Accutane, Botox injections) or are allergic to lidocaine and other numbing agents might not be eligible. You may also not be eligible if you are pregnant, nursing, or have a serious medical condition like diabetes or a heart condition. Always talk with your doctor before having procedures such as microblading done.
  • Will it match my hair color? We have pigments that match all hair colors, so we will work with your natural coloring to get a great match! We will match whatever your preferred hair color is, but keep in mind that the goal is to give you a natural look.
  • What should I do before my appointment? Before your appointment, do not overly exfoliate or scrub your skin. You should also avoid sun damage, tanning, alcohol, aspirin and Ibuprofen for 72 hours before your appointment.
  • What should I do after my appointment? After your appointment, you can expect to see a little redness around the area. Avoid water immersion in the shower, swimming pools, tanning and saunas. You will also need to avoid makeup in the area for a couple of weeks.

We would love to tell you more about the microblading process and answer any questions you have that weren’t answered here. To learn more, give us a call today here at Lily Handt health + beauty.
